ANNOUNCEMENTS

Next Reunion Lunch

Saturday August 19, 2023

Reunion Update

Reunion number 63 will take place on Saturday, August 19,2023 at the University Club of Milwaukee (formerly Tripoli Country Club). The address is 7401 N. 43rd St.

There will be a "cocktail and get re-acquainted hour" from 12noon until 1 PM. Lunch will be served at 1PM. The cost is around $40 per person. Invites will be sent out closer to the date at which time you can select your entree.

As you may recall, we decided to have a reunion luncheon on the third Saturday in August every year. Therefore, you can plan ahead! No one knows how long we will be able to continue this based on our ages, etc. Therefore, please make an attempt to attend this year.

Hi Everyone

My wife Kathy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about 3 years ago.
It is been progressing in spite of exercising at the YMCA three times per week.
As a caregiver, I determine what food to buy, prepare all the meals and clean up afterward three times a day. I also help her get dressed, wear the right clothes to wear depending upon the weather etc. I also do the cleaning of our condo.

The real problem, is getting enough sleep. She gets up randomly at night and starts to yell she wants to go home. Often I would get her into the car, ride around the neighborhood and open our garage door and say "we are home" and she says, "oh thankyou".

I belong to a men's group who are caregivers for ALZ spouses. Have learned to navigate this while maintaining my own health. Research indicates that 87% of caregivers die about a year after the death of their spouse.

So, are there any caregivers of AZ patents out there that might want to share?

Our Reunion Committee is Joy Grass, Ken Cook, Dennis Mandel, Carolyn Korona, Lynn Falconer and Marion Snyder.
